It’s World Wildlife Day - a day to remind us of our responsibilities to our world and the lifeforms we share it with! Raleigh Borneo is currently working with Danum Valley Field Centre and the Tropical Rainforest Conservation and Research Centre to help protect and regenerate areas of rainforest in the Heart of Borneo.

The second round of Raleigh Borneo’s green enterprise training programme is underway, aiming to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to launch their sustainable eco-businesses in the Heart of Sabah. We pay a visit to the training hub in Kampung Rumantai to meet the young entrepreneurs with the innovative ideas for protecting rainforest biodiversity.

Over the coming three months Raleigh Borneo and our team of young volunteers will be continuing to facilitate change in rural communities in Sabah through Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH) projects, conserve and restore biodiversity through Natural Resource Management projects and build the confidence and skills of volunteers with our Adventure Leadership treks.

I recently spent some time with Alpha 1 working on their water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) project in a village outside of Kota Marudu called Kampung Buruni.
